Tour Description:

The Silfra fissure is one of Iceland’s best kept secrets. Silfra, which is situated in the heart of Þingvellir, the site of the world’s oldest parliament, is an otherworldly scene. The crystal clear water in the deep fissure gives you a feeling of being weightless as you float down with the lazy current. Frequently rated as one of the worlds top ten dive sites, the Silfra offers up to 100 meters of underwater visibility and is  located on top of the separation between Europe and America! After an hour of snorkeling we climb out and head back to the car. Into the Blue is a relaxing but exotic trip in an environment most will only encounter in their dreams.

There were 8 in our group + 1 guide. It was amazing to snorkel here, the water is so clear. Other snorkell/dive companies come here too so there could be a bit of a queue to get into the water. You wear big thermals so your body stays warm. Your hand can get really cold and also your face but its not too bad (45 minutes). The website should tell you what to bring/wear because its too late when the guide tells us on the bus. Though actually, you dont need much. One layer of under thermals is good or just go in a swimsuit (with thermals/dry suit on top).

What a fantastic and unique experience. The guides are so helpful and so nice, that it makes this experience even better. It can be a little intimidating getting into all the gear, and if you are at all claustraphobic, you might feel a little uneasy once in the suit since you dont have great mobility. But again, the guides are great at helping you relax and give tips on how to manuever in the water. The key is to be open with the guides and let them know how you are feeling. There are NO changing facilities, so getting into the bunny suits inside the crammed vans was very challengine, but our group made a joke out of it and gave a prize for the first person who successfully put on the suit. Nice bonding experience with 7 strangers. :) The dry suits were a bit easier as you could do that outside of the van. Headin into the water was a bit intimidating, especially since you cant move like you are use to, but once you are in, and you get a feel for how to get comforatable with the suits, you are just fine. We stayed completely warm and dry, except for the fingers, which really werent that bad. After everyone got settled and comforatable, one guide lead the group and the other guide brougth up the back. They were both CONSTANTLY watching all snorkelers to make sure everything was ok. The water was so clear and the rock formations were so beautiful. It really is such a unique experience that I would recommend it to anyone. You do not need to be a good swimmer (there is no way you will sink in all those suits), and we even had someone in our group who had never snorkeled before, and he did fine. So, give it a try. Your friends back home will be so amazed.

I loved this trip, it was crazy, getting kitted out with quilted body suits and dry suits to get into freezing water! The visibility was amazing and we could see all sorts of volcanic rocks. The weather was awesome so every time you looked up you could see snow covered rocks and blue sky. On the way back our van broke down (battery died) so to make it up to us our guide took us on a tour of Thingvellir and gave us loads of information about the area. Would do this trip again :-)

It was stunning... I was a bit apprehensive before, as I am old enough, but for my daughters's sake I had to take on this crazy tour. Bathing in wintertime in a water which temperature is only two degree Celsius? Crazy enough. We had a wonderful young guide, Palli, a chatty boy with good sense of humour. The water itself wasn't shocking, as we didn't feel it cold at all. However to turn around in the swimming suit and to use the flippers and the snorkel properly - well, as a beginner, I had to get used to it. Then seeing the abyss underneath... The North-American tectonic plate to the left and the Eurasian one is on the right hand. Breath-taking scenery below, blue-green rocks and crystal-clear glacier water. As if I was hovering above a chasm like a bird. The only thing, we didn't like, it was too short... we didn't feel like going out of the water.
