Highlights:
  • Þingvellir National Park
  • Gullfoss waterfall
  • Geysir hot spring area
  • Skálholt church

Tour Description:

This popular excursion introduces you to some of the best known historical sites and natural phenomena in Iceland.

We start by visiting Nesjavellir, a high temperature geothermal area in the scenic landscape of Lake Þingvallavatn. From there we go to the Þingvellir National Park, where the Icelandic parliament Alþingi was founded in the year 930 AD. Þingvellir is geologically remarkable and the tectonic plate boundaries form a breathtaking scenery.

Panoramas Iceland
We continue to the beautiful waterfall Gullfoss, where we can walk so close to the edge that we might feel the mist of the glacial water on our faces.

Our lunchbreak is usually at the Gullfoss Cafe. Sometimes we also stop for lunch at the Information Center at the geothermal area around Geysir.

From there we journey towards the geothermal area around the incredible spouting hot springs of Geysir and Strokkur. We proceed to Skálholt church, the ancient seat of the Icelandic bishops. From there we travel towards Hveragerði, a small and charming horticultural village.

Due to weather and road conditions we cannot guarantee visits to Nesjavellir in the winter season.

This tour was fantastic. Our guide was brilliant, so knowledgable, so friendly and so funny. I wasnt quite sure what to expect, but it was the best day. It made me fall in love with Iceland even more. It was incredibly good value for money. Our guide even allowed us to take some unscheduled stops at a volcanic crater, at a waterfall, and allowed us to meet some Icelandic horses. Brilliant tour. Thankyou so much. I cannot recommend this company enough. If I could go on this tour everyday, I would.

Thanks for this tour, we could spend good holiday in Iceland. We were very happy that you re-arranged our tour, in spite of our late arriving. We would like to go to Iceland in summer again. And we would like to use this tour again!

This tour is highly – even hot - recommended! - Fascinating to see the spouting hot springs of Geysir and Strokkur when they roughly every fourth minutes sent up 50 feet high cascades of boiling water and steam into the sky. The trip also included several other interesting things such as the famous Gullfoss waterfall surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The guide who was both pleasant and very knowledgeable convey all the time facts and information about all the sights.
