Tour Description

Ever wondered what a volcano looks like on the inside? This unique volcano tour, takes you literally inside a dormant volcano, through the top crater and to the bottom of its magma chamber, once filled with steaming hot lava.

The dormant Þríhnúkagígur volcano (yeah, good luck trying to pronounce it!) is a unique natural phenomenon. By putting up the necessary gear and equipment, we´ve created a tour that opens the door to a new world. And it really isn´t that complicated to experience it, only a moderate 45-50 min. hike to the crater and then the guts to descend 120 meters/400 ft to the bottom of the crater in an open cable lift.

Is too expensive. Because we only stayed 15 minutes inside the volcano with a very short explanation. We thought that we would do a tour inside exploring all the hole. So for stay only 15 minutes is expensive. The rest of the tour was ok and the guide very nice.

A very interesting and unique experience. It's a bit of a long hike to get to the location, so be prepared to walk, but the trip down into the volcano is well worth it. The inside of a lava chamber is not a place a lot of people will get to see and the guides were very knowledgeable and helpful.

This tour was incredible! I give it four stars only because of how little time you actually had in the volcano - approximately 20 minutes, which was barely enough time to explore. For the cost, I felt that was pretty rushed. Additionally, the fact that they're contemplating boring a hole in the side of the mountain to build a viewing platform was particularly disturbing - if you're going to go to the tour, try to go before they do that.
